Kashmir Dental Relief Mission 2016

Following on from last years successful mission to Kashmir in collaboration with KORT (Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust), DAN is pleased to announce that we are planning to return to Kashmir in October 2016.

KORT is dedicated to helping the orphans of Kashmir, whose lives were torn apart following the devastating earthquake on the 8th of October 2005. KORT have recently relocated to their large custom built accommodation and educational complex. Please read about their unbelievable efforts and dedication to humanity on the KORT website.

Our Aim

DAN aims to work with KORT again this year to provide dental treatment and oral health education for the orphan children of KORT and the Kashmir region. It is hoped that this will provide the foundations for the continuing dental care for all of the children that we meet and treat.

Mission Details

We will be leaving the UK on Thursday the 6th of October 2016 and returning on the 15th of October. There is flexibility to leave from your local airport but Manchester and Glasgow airport are ideal for departures. We can discuss alternative departure airports if necessary.

We will arrive in Islamabad early on the 7th of October and after spending the day sight seeing we will spend the night in Islamabad. We will travel onwards to Mirpur on the 8th of October and settle in on our arrival. We will set up the clinics on the 9th of October and spend the day sight seeing. We are hoping to provide dental treatment and education over the following 5 days (10th to 14th inclusive) and return back to the UK on the 15th of October. We are also planning to build upon our CPD evening we held last year in which approximately 20 dentists travelled from far and wide to attend.

The total cost of the trip will be £250 + air fares. Flights are currently around £450 but can fluctuate depending on when they are booked. The £250 will include all accommodation, internal transport, meals, sigh seeing, a DAN tunic and a DAN T-shirt.

Visas for people of non-Pakistani origin cost around £100 and can take up to 4 months to process so we advise you to contact us soon if you are considering to apply.
