Jordan January 2023
On the 6th of January 2023, 8 dentists from various backgrounds left the UK to provide essential dental care for the refugee communities in the North of Jordan.
We divided into 3 teams and worked 6 days in the cities of Irbet, Al Mafraq and Madaba.
Our aims were:
1. Education
2. Urgent/emergency care
3. Restorative work.
Working in local clinics our teams managed to treat 172 patients from the 3 refugee camps. The clinics were of variable quality and teams moved between sites. Local teams’ hospitality was incredible.
Dental Aid Network always looks to provide its own equipment and materials where possible. Some of our equipment packed from the UK was held up for a day in Queen Alia airport but thankfully it all turned up in time for the mission. Another successful mission completed. All the volunteers loved the experience and hope to do more aid work in the future.
